I guess you can say he was not going out like a lamb when it came to rebounding from his awful 2008 season. Luis Castillo has started on the right track since spring started he his hitting .300 over his first 20 at bats and also has an on base percentage of .481 going into Saturday's contest against the Nationals. Some others of note.
Daniel Murphy is hitting .366 with 3 doubles in 41 at bats. Nick Evans who is showing a bit more strength then last year is hitting .324 with 2 doubles a triple and 2 home runs.
Jeremy Reed, who is battling for the last outfield spot, is hitting .290 with a home run and 4 doubles in 31 at bats but with 6 strike outs. Cory Sullivan is hitting .323 with a home run and has walked 5 times and strike out once in 31 at bats.
Mets right fielder Ryan Church is hitting .333 with 4 doubles in 30 at bats.
We still have about 3 full weeks before Mets break camp . Then Manuel and the Mets have to make some decisions about role players but it is nice to see that maybe Manuel might have a hard choice or 2 to make with the way the guys are playing.
The Mets play the Nationals today with Mike Pelfrey getting the start after missing a week due to a mild strain in his leg.
