Jose Valentin most likely playing his last games with big club.

Even though he is a veteran Valentin had to make the trip over to Orlando today and started the game playing 3rd base against the Braves today. He went 0-4 and his average dropped to .229

With the possibility of some infielders coming back after tonight’s WBC game Jose days with the big league camp are probably numbered.

It was nice to see that he was the victor in the poll we created on our web site that there are fans like me who would really like to see him make the club when they go east in April. Some of the votes I am sure are due to him really helping the team back in 2006. He was pretty close to being released or sent down back then under Willie Randolph but he started to flat out hit and even hit for power with some really timely home runs.

He missed most of last year due to injury and that I am sure is why is timing might be off. If he does not make the team I hope he spends some time at Buffalo and becomes a coach. The Stache is a great asset to the NY Mets organization.

Absolutely. He was integral part, along with Cliff Floyd, for the Mets success in 2006. He was also an asset to the development of a young Jose Reyes.
It would be nice if he remains active, in case the Mets need him in case of injury, or when the roster expands in September.

Best of luck to the Stache. He handled himself with class for the few short years he was with us. He would truly be a great addition to any coaching staff within the Mets organization.
