With 15 of the Mets gone to play in the WBC, the Mets need to bring up some talent and one of the guys we might see in a game is Mets 22 year old propsect Brad Holt.
The Mets used the 33rd pick in last June's draft, a compensatory sandwich pick between the first and second rounds for losing free agent Glavine to select Holt out of UNC-Wilmington. Holt dominated with the Mets rookie farm team the Brooklyn Cyclones. He led the league in ERA (1.87), strikeouts (96), strikeouts per nine innings (11.9) and opponent's batting average (.171).
The Mets VP Tony Bernazard says he further along then Mets Mike Pelfrey at the same stage of development.
He needs to work on secondary pitches but the Mets say that he could be in Double AA by mid season and a possible call up in September.
