Mets Claim Another Reliever

The Mets claimed Fernando Nieve of irrevocable waivers from the Houston Astros.

Nieve, had a terrible season after recovering from Tommy John surgery (2007), pitching only 10.2 innings, going 0-1 with a 8.44 ERA and a 1.781 WHIP.

Nieve will most likely compete for a middle relief spot.
