The Mets have announced pre sale tickets that started Sunday for season ticket holders,Monday for Club Mets and Tuesday for flushing flash readers. So at this point that means basically everyone has a chance to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
The Village Voice has a great article today in regards to what tickets are available for weekend games at Citi Field in April . If you want cheap seats by the time Sunday comes you might be out of luck. Many of the weekend game do not have tickets under $30.00 already. There might be a few left in the promenade last rows.
There are tickets for $140.00 in the Caesars club which is like loge at Shea. I never paid $140.00 for a ticket. Not even in the playoffs. During game 6 of the NLCS of '06 I sat in the upper deck box for $75.00 a seat. Even last years last game at Shea cost me alot less then $140.00. I know the Mets have gone corporate on us and that is fine. The Mets front office will have to deal with that because they can not lower those tickets since some season ticket holders have paid through the nose to sit there.
Maybe in 2010 the Mets will lower some prices if the economy is still in a hole . In the meantime the real fans will be in the Promenade seats, outfield sections, Pepsi pavilion and the bridge terrace. It will be really bizarre watching a game from there and seeing empty seats behind the plate.

as long as they sell a lot of luxury boxes, right? isn't that what we always hear about when a team plans a new stadium/arena? who cares about the fans in the seats? until we stop watching.
Why do you say the real fans will be in the promenade and outfield? Just because someone can afford a seat in the Ebbets Club or Caesars Club that doesn't make them any less of a fan.
