Piazza is enjoying the time spent being the batting coach for the Italy team. It gives him a chance to keep his feet in the game that he loved and made him rich in the process.
There is a Q&A with Piazza in the NJ Star Ledger Maybe one day he will be a coach for a major league team. He just likes the fact he gets to chat with old teammates and gets him out of his house.
He was asked if he thought he could make a run at playing again. "You have flashes, not extended moments. You see some of the guys throwing against us. I was watching (Wednesday) a kid throwing for the Marlins. He had a great arm. I forget his name, but you see those guys and you go, 'I made the right choice."
We did him on the field at Shea during the Shea ceremonies and I am sure we will see him throwing out the first pitch sooner or later at Citi Field come April.
