Youngsters Getting A Look See

The Mets Spring Training Roster is more depleted than most teams. As you might well have read and heard, the Mets have 16 representatives participating in the World Baseball Classic.

Because of a diminished roster, the Mets are taking a look at some 'future stars' they might not have given an opportunity this early in their development. Two players in particular, SS Reese Havens , the first round pick of 2008 and SS Wilmer Flores , the 17 year old hot shot.

We don't know how much playing time these two youngsters will get, but it will be real interesting to see how well they fare against players with more MLB experience.

The Mets infield is decimated, with Carlos Delgado (1B - playing for Puerto Rico), Jose Reyes (SS - playing for the Dominican Republic), and David Wright (3B - playing for the US) all participating in the WBC.

Havens and Flores have no shot of making the team, but with these young players possibly on loan to Jerry and the Mets, General Manuel will have a preview of what the future of the Mets looks like.
