If you saw tonights game you witnessed another blunder by Mets rookie left fielder Daniel Murphy. Now I know he will get a couple of mulligans since he is new to playing left field but he seems to be taking steps backward. His throw to Jose Reyes on a single that was hit to him was horrible.
Jerry Manuel said in his post game that the play is designed for Jose to get the cutoff. Not sure why. The Mets were able to bury that error in a 7-2 win but teams will prey on him until he gets it right.
Of course the Padres tonight needed a refresher course in fielding in the 7th inning with the Mets scoring 4 times on just 1 hit by Luis Castillo a bunt that was not fielded by the Padres pitcher.
Mr Delgado hit # 471 in the Pepsi porch in the 8th.
