On a day more suited for football the Mets and Johan Santana notched there first victory of the 2009 season by beating the Reds 2-1 . With the game time temp of 37 degrees I was pretty nervous with seeing our big guy getting hurt.
In the first inning it was like last year for the Mets has Reyes singled stole second and was on 3rd with 1 out but the Mets could not score.
Daniel Murphy hit a home run for the Mets first run and had both rbis for the Mets. Delgado and Church each had 2 hits. Luis Castillo, back to his 2008 ways looked at strike 3 with a chance to plate a run early in the game.
Santana labored in the first when he walked 2 guys. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings. The story we hope that will make the difference this year will be the pen which did not alow a run the rest of the way with the Mets 3 players Sean Green, J J Putz and K Rod shutting the door.!
A great way to start the year boys!
