Let The 'On Pace' Predictions Begin!

As Long Island Met Fan recently posted, the Mets beat the Cincinnati Reds 2-1 to begin the 2009 Season. Daniel Murphy hit a home run, and had two RBI's. So, let the 'On Pace' Predictions begin:
  • Murphy is 'On Pace' to hit 162 home runs, and have 324 RBI
  • Francisco Rodriguez is 'On Pace' to save 162 games
  • Ryan Church is 'On Pace' to have 324 hits
  • Carlos DelGado is 'On Pace' to have 324 hits
  • Ryan Church is 'On Pace' to have 162 OF assists
  • The Mets are 'On Pace' to go 162-0
  • The Phillies are 'On Pace' to go 0-162
This is a fun time of year, and we are all excited that Spring Training is finally over. Every team this time of year believe they have a chance, and we, as Mets fans, are no different, Sports Illustrated predictions be damned. So today was the first step in not just a 162 step marathon, but hopefully 174 step marathon. Green, Putz, and K-Rod pitched well enough to have us believe that you must get the Mets within the first six innings, otherwise this relief staff will slam the door shut. A far cry from 2008. Let's enjoy today's victory. Hopefully it will be the first of many this year, culminating in not only post-season play, but a World Championship.
