Of course the Mets are going to exclaim that the park is great ! Dont you think that expected. Compared to Shea its night and day. After the Mets beat the Red Sox last night 4-3 I was more interested in hearing what the Red Sox are going to say about the park .
In todays Boston Globe there was some nice little quotes from Jason Bay who said "It's definitely big as far as the hitter is concerned, I would say as of right now there's definitely a lot of room for doubles out there."
"Well, tonight, it played huge," said Francona. "That's a big outfield. I looked up in the first inning and Jacoby [Ellsbury] looked like there were about 50 yards behind him."
Mike Lowell had this to say "Despite its large dimensions, it had a cozy feel. " and about the amenties for players. "You have your own weight room, your own cage, thats big you can be efficent with your time and get into your routine"
The park right now looks like it will be a doubles and triples paradise. Manuel in his post game press conference mentioned how he thinks the outfielders will have to bunch up and that they do align that way in San Francisco.
The Mets have a workout on Sunday that I think you will see the team really try to learn the nuances of this ballpark. I mean if you watched the game you saw Castillo take a dive over the railing in the first inning. His quote after the game was "you have to show the Met fans your ready" I am so glad that the fans motivate him.
Gone most likely will be the balls hit down the line . With the way the stands jet out you will see a lot of cue shots that will punch the ball back into the field of play. The Mets will be stressing speed and defense in this ballpark!!!
