Smithtown Native Released. Mets Interested?

The Texas Rangers released utility player Frank Catalanotto . Catalanotto, a Smithtown native, plays multiple positions, and is a left handed hitter.

If this had happened a couple of years ago, where the Mets were alleged to be interested in Catalanotto, this scenario might be possible. With the announcement of the Mets signing Gary Sheffield, the chances of signing Catalanotto seems nil.

It would be a neat Hollywood ending if the Mets had signed the soon-to-be 35 year old Long Island Native.
