Time to demolish Citi Field. Did you see the cat?

As everyone was walking around and marveling tonight at the Mets new home I am sure they were lost in the many different beer choices and food choices to see all the ironic things that happened when the Mets find a way to lose there home opener 6-5 to the first place Padres. Yeah that is your first ironic item to notice.

The Padres winner of 5 in a row lead the NL in bullpen ERA with a bunch of no names. #2.

Well of course there was all the pomp and circumstance before the game but lets just concentrate on the game .

Jody Gerut hit a home run on the 3rd pitch. The last time a player lead off and hit a home run in the first game at a new park. Well that has befuddled Elias Sport bureau. Going back to 1900 this is the first time it has happened.

Lets not forget Big Pelf getting his cleat caught and collapsing in front of the mound and the Mets faithful before pitching to the Padres opposing pitcher who last year spend part of his time waiting tables at his local outback steakhouse.

Lets move to the 6th inning. Ryan Church, who is playing right field since he is better defensively and had a good start to the season had a ball scrape his glove for an error on a ball that looked easily catchable. That give the Padres a man on 3rd with the score tied 5-5 . So the Mets are able to get 2 outs . Now we have Pedro Felicano on the mound with a 3-2 count on David Eckstein. Remember 2006 when he played for the Cardinals ? So Pedro has 3-2 count with 2 outs and only thing he has to do is get a strike , ground out fly out or pop out to end the inning and the Mets are still tied. So what does Pedro do? Of course you are right he balks the go ahead run in . YES BALKS !!! Did you hear 41,800 people collectively groan?

So what do the Mets do against the former Met reliever that they released in spring training when they faced him during the 8th inning? The guy the Mets believed had no confidence in his fast ball? Beltran,Church and Schneider go down like lambs at the slaughter.

Then the 9th inning we have Heath Bell who had been dreaming of this day ever since he shuttled back in forth from tidewater to Shea in the 05 and 06 season. He wanted to have the first save at Citi Field. Boom that was easy!

Did you see who passed today besides Harry Kalas? Mark the Bird Fidrych on his farm beneath a Mack dump truck .

I think there is enough hear to make your head spin. Citi Field has to go!

Oh do not forget the cat!!!
