General Manuel Suspended

Major League Baseball has suspended Mets manager Jerry Manuel for one game for 'bumping' umpire Bill Welke. Manuel's cap brim slightly grazed Welke during an argument on an obstruction call against Jose Reyes - Thursday against the Phillies.

Manuel, as disclosed by Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, Bob Watson, was also fined an undisclosed amount of money.

Manuel will serve his suspension for today's game against the Pirates.

As we reported: 24 Hours...May 8, 2009 , Manuel put up a good argument on a questionable call by Welke. Most likely Sandy Alomar will be the manager for the day, and let's hope the Mets can continue their roll.
