The Mets finished April on a terrible note, losing two of three to the Marlins. Tonight, May 1st, the Mets busted out the whoopin sticks, and stuck it to their nemesis, the Phillies, 7-4.
The stars for the Mets tonight were, in no paricular order:
- Daniel Murphy two run homer in the first inning.
- Mike Pelfrey - two RBI's.
- Alex Cora played solid defense
- Pedro Feliciano actually batted, and walked.
- David Wright was 2-4 with 1 RBI.
- The ever hot Fernando Tatis was 2-4 with an RBI.
The Mets played much better tonight, and with April, according to Howie Rose, "In The Books", the Mets need to step up their play. Big Pelf pitched well, and Pedro Feliciano, with his first AB since 2006, did a good job, and Metsfan73 appreciates that General Manuel allowed Feliciano to pitch to more than one batter.
Things To Look For: Oliver Perez, OP's, outing tomorrow. OP needs a good outing, or find himself either relegated to the bullpen or possibly demoted. Metsfan73 hopes Ollie has a good outing, because for the Mets to have a good/respectable season, they need Ollie.
Tommorow, Metsfan73 and Long Island Met Fan are getting together for a BBQ, and look forward to talking baseball and watching our Mets.
Lord knows, from my Talk Me In Off The Ledge that I am one to rant, but with the turn of the calendar, I expect a turn for our Mets.
