Well looks like we will not see Oliver Perez coming out of the pen . He will be heading to the DL. The MRI is the Mets best friend in this case. The best part of this for the Mets is that you know that he will be in Triple AAA for a bit before he heads back to the Mets
I am sure the Mets brass sense a bit of relief. Of course Oliver has kept his mouth shut about his knee for the most part. The right knee has been barking since spring training. Also am I the only person who believes that the injury is real and not something the Mets made up to force him on the DL?
Well maybe this is the reason why Oliver is pitching like.... Whatever the reason is we can now just concentrate on who is in the rotation and thankfully Oliver is not.
Jon Niese has not been setting any records in Buffalo in the early season. Niese will now be the starting pitcher on Friday against the Pirates. He has an 8.44 ERA and an 0-2 record so far. He had his best start last friday where he allowed three hits, a walk and a run and struck out eight in a six-inning no-decision against Louisville.

Perez' unorthodox delivery has finally caught up with him. Landing with right foot pointed towards first while entire body is whipping towards third may provide him with torque but has possibly ruined his knee (IF this is real "injury").
While he's out, will someone please teach this man to land with his lead foot pointed toward the plate, not every which-a-way.
1. it improves accuracy
2. lessens stress on the knee
My two cents.
P.S. For the Mets, the DL is less embarrassing than sitting 30-plus millionaire in the bullpen.
