Jon Niese started today's game, and was subsequently injured. He injured his right hamstring while covering 1B in the second inning. When he threw a warm-up pitch, he collapsed in a heap on the field. The Mets took X Rays, and have sent him to The Hospital For Special Surgery.
Sheffield hit a rocket into left centerfield gap, but had to stop at first. He re-injured his hamstring/calf in the Mets half of the sixth
On the positive side, the Mets lead 7-0; Nelson Figueroa pitched well in long relief, and Wright hit a two run HR.
