Jon Niese to have surgery and Parnell might start

Niese only lasted an inning and 2 /3rds today before coming out of the game after tearing his hamstring while covering first today.

He tried to pitch after the injury but collapsed in pain. He will have surgery and be out for the rest of the year.

This open the possibility of Parnell starting a game on monday who recorded a useless 3 out save as well as his first hit in his first major league at bat. Nelson Figueroa made up for having nothing the other day by pitching 4 plus innings in relief in the Mets 9-0 victory.

The Mets pounded the Cardinals pitching and Angel Pagan had 4 rbi's with a triple and a homer.
Some guy named Wright had 3 hits.

Sheff injured his hamstring late in the game and came out after rounding first on a ball that made it to the wall.
