A New homestand and a guarded sense of optimism.

Not sure why but it always a good feeling when you end a homestand or a road trip with a win. It gives you that false sense of security that you sometimes need as the Mets come home and start a nice long hometand. Of course the road trip was nothing but frustrating watching the Mets win 2 and lose 5 to last place teams.

Well now there home against the wild card contender Giants for 4. Then the Braves come in for a series and homestand ends with a couple of games against the division leading Phillies. Oh if it was just any other year this would be a great time to get to the ballpark to see the Mets play some tough games against some of the best clubs right now in the National League. Of course don’t get me wrong when the Mets are awful I will still for some reason head out to the ballpark hoping for some miracle. I mean wouldn’t be great if the Mets took 3 out of 4 from the Giants, 2 out of 3 from the Braves and swept the Phillies to find themselves like 5 out of the race?

What would be this years expectation that we don’t lose all the games? Oh come we have Santana at least 2 times on this homestand. We have Billy Wagner coming back possibly on Sunday!! There is hope! You hear that David Wright? Don’t screw it up. Do us Met fans proud and carry the team this homestand sore groin or not! Give us something to cheer about besides the Lefty ace on the mound! Hit a 3 run homer to win a game. Get a hit that is meaningful! Just this once!

Maybe then when the Mets go back on the road us fans will have a little pride about this team. I mean I want to go to Shea NU to see you guys win not to check out the new things that were done to the park or see those god awful uniforms you plan to wear this weekend! We want to see winning baseball in Queens!
