The Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies today by the score of 8-3. It was the Mets first win in the final game of this three game series against the Rockies.
Pat Misch, making his second start for the Mets, earned his firs major league victory throwing sevent innings while only surrendering two runs.
Josh Thole made his first Major League start, had his first Major League passed ball, his first Major League stolen base, and his first Major League hit. He was 2-5 on the day.
Said Thole, "It was unbelievable. It came and went so fast. I looked up and it was already the eighth inning."
Misch, on his first big league win, "It's just a good feeling. It's stuff that you dream of, you think about. Did I think it would take this long? Who knows? I'm just pretty excited."
Thole brought home two souvenirs from the day: the ball from his first Major League hit, a single, and the ball from his second Major League hit, a double. Thole gave the second ball to his father, who along with 11 family and friends, was in attendance.
A great start for the young catcher. It would be great to see him get plenty of playing time, so the Mets, and their fans, can get a valid assessment of the talent this kid has.
