The Mets have a couple of holes to fill next year. As fans we know we need another starter for the rotation. Do the Mets realize this? We also need a left fielder and some ideas for first base.
Over at MLB traderumors they have there outlook for the Mets in 2010. Of course since this year is an afterthought already people are chiming in there ideas.
Some of them make sense and some of them are out there. If the Mets need to save $$ there are some interesting ideas for the Mets to ponder.
If they like Murphy and they don’t want to dump a ton of $$ into first base they could of course resign father time Mr Delgado and his hip to a nice incentive based contract that could do wonders for the Mets if he is back to his form in late 2008.
Or would the Mets be better off going after a guy like the X Man Xavier Nady as a cheap fill. Or even Eric Hinske. The Mets loved Nady and of course your dealing with injuries with him but he could be a nice complement to Murphy at 1st and also back up in the outfield if his arm is up to it. That way the budget conscious Mets could spend more of there $$ on picking up a good left fielder and a pitcher that eats innings.
I don’t think the Mets can spend the $$ on everything they need so they to cut somewhere. I don’t see the Mets going after a guy like Nick Johnson even with his high on base percentage due to him being injury prone. Of course there is a guy playing for the Padres that would fit nicely but I don’t see the Mets stealing the show.
