Padres Release Cliff Floyd. Mets bring in as a coach?

Not sure if big guy Cliffy is ready to call it a career yet but if he is love to see in a Met uniform again. This time as a coach. Floyd has played ball now since the 93 Season when he got a cup of coffee with the Expos that year. He played 4 years for the Mets from 03 through 06 and he was a fan favorite as well as a club house favorite.

Injuries have slowed the big guy down in 09 where he got only 17 at bats for the Padres before falling to injury. He was a big part of the Rays clubhouse in 08 as they rallied through out the year and the post season.

Cliff finished is Met career in 06 with a strike out in the post season against the Cardinals . He had 81 homers and 268 rbi's for the Mets with a .268 average over those 4 years.

Teammates love his impact that he has. ‘As if before Floyd got there not only weren’t they winning but his teams appeared to have little idea how to win. It's not like Floyd carries his teams. He's typically not the best player. It's something about his presence that does it. '

There is one Met that would love to have ole Cliffy around in some capacity and that is David Wright who loved have Floyd there in the clubhouse when he came up to the big club.

As a Met fan Cliff was an impact player on the field and off the field and his class can only help this organization in a time of need.
