Say It Aint So Keith

On Sunday’s SNY broadcast of the Mets 2009 final game, during the last two minutes, Keith Hernandez might very well have dropped a big bomb. Hernandez following Gary Cohen’s closing thanks to the fans and his colleagues in the SNY booth, Hernandez said, "I've enjoyed the four years and, hopefully, I'm in the middle of negotiating my new contract, hopefully, I'll be back (next season)." WHAT?!?!?

I would hate for Hernandez to leave. He is that link to the Met glory days even more than “RJ” – Ron Darling. Hernandez’ insight, along with Darling’s intellect and insight, in conjuction with Gary’s sense of Mets history and fandom, is second to none.

Hernandez should never have opened this Pandora's Box, but now that he has, there will be speculation until an announcement is made.

Following up his original statement, Hernandez said, "Hopefully I'll be back. If not, it's been a great four years."

After such a terrible season, the last thing this needs is to lose one of their own from the broadcast booth.

Metsfan73 has always cherished Hernandez as a Met, and more recently as an analyst. He provides wonderfully insight along with his ADHD observations. If he leaves, the loss will certainly be ours, the fans.
