Ka-Putz'd

Former Met reliever JJ Putz has reportedly agreed to a one year $3M contract with the ChiSox. Putz was obtained by the Mets last year in exchange for Joe Smith, Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez, Jason Vargas, Mike Carp, Ezequiel Carrera, and Maikel Cleto. In the same trade, the Mets also received Sean Green and Jeremy Reed.

Putz got off to a difficult start with the Mets, and battled a bad elbow most of the year before finally undergoing surgery. I think the Mets and their fans never saw JJ at his best, and I would have loved for the Mets to give him a second try. Putz has electric stuff, and the Mets never really got to see him at his best.
Good luck to JJ. I'm sure the Mets will one day regret not trying to re-sign him.
