Joe B and Evan Roberts of WFAN get to bottom of the 2-8 week time line for Mr Reyes

This morning on WFAN, Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts talked to Dr. Christine Resta, a thyroid specialist, about Jose Reyes and what is expected of Reyes and the time line for his return.

Joe and Evan had a hard time grasping the 2-8 week timeline for Reyes being out. As do most Met fans.

In short, Dr. Resta said, because his thyroid levels are fast, it could make his heart rate increase, even when he is sitting still, “So, if you exert yourself, you can put too much strain on the heart.”
In such cases, she tells her patients to cut back on exerting

She also went on to say that there is really no pills or medicine he can take to shorten the time it would take to have his levels go back to normal . If it's a virus it just has to work it is course. She also says this type of strain for the Thyroid has no connection with HGH.

Of course Joe B sees the latest news as the end as we know it . Which is right up his alley since he always sees the worse case scenerio.

Reading around the net it seems the clock for the 8 weeks started last week so Reyes will get tested early next week and have follow up tests until everything is back to normal for the Mets shortstop.
