Mets should consider Hisanori Takahasi for rotation

Ok so we know the Mets are really high on Jonathan Niese and I like the kid as well. The Mets really are looking to slot Niese as the # 5 starter. Well I think they should give Takahasi a good look as well.

He pitched another 3 innings yesterday and gave up 1 hit and struck out 3. The 34 year old does something that alot of other pitchers seem to have an issue with is throw strikes.

Now I know that he has not faced the best of the opponents lineup. He did give up a rope to Carlos Guillen as the 1 hit but he is able to keep hitters off balance with the ability to throw any of his 4 pitchers that he can throw strikes.

Takahasi, who will turn 35 when the season starts, is a starter by trade but he also might be able to fill a huge hole in the Mets bullpen that they have not had since Darren Oliver and that is a legitimate long relief guy that can come in the game and give you 3-4 innings if the starter gets bombed or injured.

I know the Mets have Fernando Nieve also competting for the 5th guy in the rotation and he is out of options . Well if Niese falters then it should be Takahasi that makes the team and leave Niese at Buffalo.

The Mets need a guy that throw strikes on the Major League team and not in Buffalo.
