After Oliver Perez's awful outing yesterday, Manager Jerry Manuel, when asked, seemed really concerned. He seemed beside himself in what can be done to save this kids career. Jerry was quite somber, but showed caring in his comments.
When asked by a reporter if it was fair to keep Perez in the lineup when he doesn't give the team a chance to win, Jerry replied, "Good question, good question..."
I have supported Perez throughout the years, and even went so far as to predict that he will win 15 or 16 games this year, but as the reporter said, he hasn't given the Mets a chance to win. Perez doesn't have options left, so he would have to clear waivers if the Mets were looking to send him down to AAA for some training and work out whatever is failing him. Perez, like I said about Maine, should be open to something like this. He is at a cross roads in his career right now, and he might just need to swallow his pride and take some time to correct whatever it is that is wrong with him.
Here is Jerry's post game interview. Thanks to Seven Train To Shea for the video:

no team would claim him due to his salary. I dont Ollie will benefit from a trip down. He is just plain clueless.
Perez will never be right until he corrects his landing foot (right foot), which continues to point towards first base upon landing, instead of towards home. This forces him to put undue torque on his knee during the follow-through and always throws him off-balance.
The next time he pitches, watch his feet.
Why can't the Mets break this down and fix it?
