Mets find a way win 5-4 battle for .500 road trip

Well another decent outing from John Maine was almost lost in a fury of back to back home runs last night by the Reds. Thankfully the Mets slugger ROD BARAJAS smacked a home run off a 94MPH fastball in the 9th to give the Mets the lead and the win 5-4 against the Reds.

Maine is doing something these last 2 starts that we have not seen for a long time with him. He is getting batters to swing and miss instead of fouling off pitches to run up his pitch count. This is all with a 90mph fastball that has to have some late movement. He pitched well up until the 6th inning where he seem to falter after a lead off single. Dan Warthen came to the mound and gave him a little pep talk and Maine completed the inning and his night giving up 2 runs, 1 earned over 102 pitches in 6 innings while striking out 6.

Mets had home runs by David Wright and rbis by Jason Bay on a sac fly. Reyes contributed 2 hits and a rbi as did Francoeur.

Barajas home run his 7th leads the team.

The Mets try to win there first series on the road today with a 12:35 game with Niese on the mound. If they win they will finish the short road trip 3-3.
