Mets Vs Twins Matchup for 3 game set at Citi Field

The Mets host the Twins for the first time at Citi Field. They last played in 2007 when Santana a Twin at the time beat the Mets 9-0. Now this weekend he faces his former team for the first time.

None of the Mets starters this weekend have faced the Twins and Big Pelf who goes tonight only has faced the O-Dog who in 7 at bats has 4 hits. Kevin Slowey who is 7-4 with a ERA of 4.58 has never faced the Mets but has given up homers to Bay,Barajas and Frenchy in limited at bats.

The Twins are in first 8 games over .500 in the AL Central with .5 game lead over the Tigers. They have lost 3 straight after just completing a series with the Brewers where they were shut out 5-0 and scored 8 runs in the 3 game series. The Twins are 7-8 in interleague play while the Mets are 11-4.

Mets fans get a chance to see Joe Mauer in person this weekend which to me is worth the price of admission. Mauer, who has a day off yesterday is hitting .309 but with only 3 home runs. He has 28 last year which was his high for his career . In 06 he hit 13. Manager Gardenhire always has his troops playing hard clean baseball so this could be a pretty good series that will be the final of the interleague games this year.

Saturday the Mets will see Carl Pavano matched up against Santana. Sunday Niese gets the start against Scott Baker.
