Ramon Ortiz, Angel Pagan,Jenrry Mejia & Luis Castillo

The Mets wasted no time after signing Ramon Ortiz yesterday in getting him some action. He started for the Bisons and pitched 4 innings where he gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and just 1 walk. Ortiz has been averaging a walk every other inning so if he can keep his walks down he will be some added depth if the Mets wind up making a trade and add pitching to the mix.

Angel Pagan was wearing a heat pack before the game last night and felt a little sore in his side during bp and the trainers for the Mets feel it was just a muscle spasm that didnt calm down during the game Pagan mentioned it to Manager Jerry after his 5th inning at bat so he was taken out in the 7th.

Mejia pitched 2+ innings for Binghamton and gave up a run on 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3 in his first game as a starter.

Nothing new with Castillo. He has not started playing in rehab games and still is nursing his sore heels.
