Mets won a game on the road and in the process are now in sole possesion of second place as they beat the Orioles 5-1 and the Phillies got shallacked in B town by a score of 12-2.
The Mets are 1.5 games out of first with the Braves losing to the Twins last night 2-1. The Mets made the best use of the DH last night with Chris Carter whacking a 3 run homer. Wright actually hit a ball to right Center that played a run and he also had a single in the first plated Reyes. Wright now has 42 rbis for the season.
Phillies are just not hitting as Werth is in a slump and Ibanez has been the Phillies version of our Jason Bay. It was fun watching Barajas missing that Knuckleball last night with all that late movement and it only cost that 1 run.
Mets improve to 9-18 on the road as they play game 2 tonight against the hapless Orioles with Takahashi looking to see if he can actually pitch and not get bombed after the first run of the lineup.
