Niese Nixes Nats

Jon Niese was "On" last night as he blanked the Nats when Mother Nature didn't cooperate very well. The Mets lefty shut out the hapless Nats (20-22) for 7 rain soaked innings, en route to the Mets 3-0 victory. It was the Mets first shut-out win this year.

Niese pitched out of trouble in t
he seventh inning, where the Nats loaded the bases with two outs. Niese got Roger Bernadina to end the inning on a ground out to Murphy at first.

Jason Bay, who again was awful at the plate, knocked in the first Mets run with a sac fly which scored Reyes from third in the first inning.

The Red Hot Red Head, Justin Turner, did an unheard of thing...he got a key hit with two outs. The rookie infielder knocked in two runs with two outs in the sixth inning.

Jose Reyes had a solid night going 3-4 and scoring twice.
