One Day Late: Mets To Honor Jackie Robinson's 42 - Mets Vs Rockies - April 16, 2013 - Game #1

The Mets will honor the late Jackie Robinson by having every player adorned with Robinson's retired #42 in their matinee game today against the Rockies.

In a display or respect for the Brooklyn Dodger great, All Mets (and Rockie) players will wear #42 to pay tribute to the life and career of Jackie Roosevelt Robinson. Normally this tribute is held by all teams in Major League Baseball on April 15th, commemorating the day in which Robinson busted through baseball's color barrier, the Mets and Rockies are delayed a day due to yesterday's snow-out.
They will play a day-night doubleheader today, with the first game starting at 3:10. The second game will be played at 8:40 this evening.

Dillon Gee will get the ball today, and hopefully he can find the missing elements to his pitching success, which has plagued him throughout the spring this year. Dillon is a miserable 0-2 with a robust 7.71 ERA. In two starts he has only pitched 9.1 innings.

With a twin bill and today's frigid temps (expected), the Mets need a solid performance from Gee today.

Today's Mets game 1 lineup:

1.  Jordany Valdespin - RF
2.  Daniel Murphy -  2B
3.  David Wright - 3B
4.  Ike Davis - 1B

5.  John Buck - C
6.  Lucas Duda - LF
7.  Kirk Nieuwenhuis - CF
8.  Ruben Tejada - SS
9.  Dillon Gee - RSP
