Wheeler on the mound: Duda in the OF vs the Cards

It is crazy that its still february and games have already started.  Of course this is due to the lame World Baseball Classic.  Wright leaves after playing this friday for Arizona.

Today Mr Wheeler takes the hill as a started for the Mets.  He did pretty well in his 1st apperance last week especially after John Buck calmed him down.  all you hear is that Buck works great with the pitchers. We hope has a little left in his tank so he can smack some out of Citi Field.

Lucas Duda will be in the OF and he better get a hit so he can just take a breath. The kid wears the weight on his shoulders and he needs to just relax.  With a new batting stance and his off season wrist issues Duda has alot to overcome.  Honestly he doesnt really belong out there as a starter regardless of how much confidence Iike Davis has in him.  More confidence it seems then Duda has in himself.

Look for Den Dekker and Byrd to start in the OF today.

One Reason The Mets Should Start A Rookie

With the lack of production from the Mets in securing a "professional" outfielder for 2013, I have held that I think they should start the young kids - Nieuwenhuis, den Dekker, Baxter, et al

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, video must be worth 10,000 words:

Mets 2013 Bobblehead Giveaways May Be More Exciting Than The Season

The Mets have released their Bobblehead giveaways for the 2013 season. Last season the Mets had Rusty Staub, Tom Seaver, Keith Hernandez, Edgardo Alfonzo, and Mike Piazza.

I was fortunate enough to get all but Hernandez (still looking for a reasonable price on e-Bay).

This year there will be some more Bobblehead giveaways at GHMP:

According to ESPN's Adam Rubin, the Mets will offer:

April 21, 2013 - Ron Darling

May 25, 2013 - John Franco (why is he 31 and not 45?)

June 30, 2013 - David Wright

July 21, 2013 -  Dwight Gooden

August 25, 2013 - Tom Seaver

I would love to see the Mets re-visit some of their older "glory" with such player Bobbleheads as:

Jerry Grote
Jerry Koosman
Jon Matlack
Bud Harrelson
Felix Millian
Ron Hunt

2013 raises optimism,,,unfortunately it is for the Bobblehead giveaways, and not the team on the field.

Other Sources: Rubin - Franco, Rubin - Darling

Mets on SNY this spring starting Saturday

We dont have to go another weekend with out some type of Mets baseball.  I admit I have been with with the family and our little one and have not watched 1 episode of cold stove this off season. I will thought try to get some time in front of the TV this weekend when the Mets will be on the air !

Will be good to see Gary, Keith and Ron and here there take on the lackluster off season.  It will be interesting to see what they say about the fact the Mets really have no OF to speak off.  Of course will be great to see Mex and see if he has his stache.  I have missed the trio and look forward to introducing them to my little one. Also will be cool to see Wheeler and some of the rooks pitch albeit it might be only for 1 or 2 innings.

The SNY spring lineup is below.

2/23/13 Nationals 12:10 p.m. SNY

2/25/13 Nationals 6:10 p.m. SNY

Daniel Murphy heading back to NY

What would be the first day of a complete squad work out without an injury in Mr Met camp!

The same injury that sidelines Wright and Scott Hairston last spring now has hit Mr Murphy.  He has a rib injury or intercoastal issue has its being described.  Murph said he was tinkering with batting stances in the cage and he now is sore.  He will be examined in NY and prolly get a cortizone shot.

Hey at least it isnt Valley Fever and those spores !

Ahh spring in Florida but certainly not in NY!  Waiting for first televised spring game already here!

Ravens win : Now we can turn to baseball~

The Baltimore Ravens beat the 49ers at the blackout bowl last night 34-31.  Mr Lewis now can retire with another superbowl ring.  It was a good game if you were involved in a superbowl pool since the score changed rapidly near the end of the quarters.

Now though we can turn our attention to baseball after the pundants over analyze every play over the next dayor 2.

Watch for us to come back to life in the coming days. We are of course not too thrilled with the NY Mets package of players of 2013.  Who can be.
