C'mon Seven...

Tonight, the Mets won a thrilling game over the Colorado Rockies, by the score of 2-1. The deciding run was driven in by New York's own Damion Easley in the home half of the eighth inning. Easley tattooed a 3-2 pitch off Taylor Buchholz, with two outs in the bottom half of the eighth inning, the hit that secured the Mets' seventh straight win. This is the longest winning streak our NY Mets have had since August 17 - 24, 2006.

Oliver Perez pitched quite well, lasting six full innings, before being relieved with two on and none out in the seventh. OP gave up one run and two hits in six innings, walking six, and striking out seven. His pitch count was high, which led to his seventh inning removal. The lone blemish on his outing was giving up a solo HR to Brad Hawpe, with two outs in the fifth.

Perez was relieved by Aaron Heilman, who preceded to juice the bases with walks until striking out the last two Rockies batters of the seventh, Willy Taveras and Clint Barmes. This was the last threat the Rockies would pose.

Billy Wags came on to slam the door shut, striking out two, and getting the final out on an innocuous fly ball to Carlos Beltran.

A nice win by the Mets, who are now 1 game within first place. Presently the Cheese Steaks are tied at five going into the 12th inning.
