At least that is the way it seems to make sense. He started last night for the Zephyrs and gave up 2 runs and 6 hits over 6 innings and has an era just over 2.00 in 2 starts since being called up.
I think they will give Claudio Vargas the turn who would be pitching on the normal rest since he pitched on Sunday.
They could pitch Oliver Perez on Friday and Niese Saturday. Only problem with that scenario is that would be 3 lefties in a row since Johan Santana is pitching the Thursday day game against the Padres.
