Gary Carter is campaigning. ever so subtly, to be a major league manager. In an article in the
National Post, Carter's players from the Orange County Flyers of the Golden Baseball League, believe Carter is a great manager, and any team would benefit from his energy, enthusiasm, and experience.

Carter continues to recite his resume to prove his abilities as a manager of young talent. He has had success, winning pennants in both the Mets Rookie League and the Mets Class A team in Port St. Lucie (2005, 2006). The problem is, Carter is an ego maniac, that people believe is self serving, and that he shamelessly tries to promote himself with no regard for others. Carter seems to be totally oblivious of proper etiquette, and only thinks of himself, and it is my opinion that this character flaw continues to hurt him. Just look back to his antics when he phoned Jay Horwitz, the Mets PR Guru, letting them know he could be on the next flight to NY to talk to the Wilpon's about managing the Mets. One problem...Willie Randolph was still the Mets manager.
How fitting would it be if Carter advances no further than the Golden Baseball League?
