Burgos Surrenders

As reported by John Delcos, Ambiorix Burgos has surrendered to police Tuesday in the Dominican Republic.

There are reports stating that the mother of the 29-year-old Angely Fana - Eudosia Ruane, is claiming that Burgos intentionally ran down her daughter because she refused to go out with him. She has filed a report with police with a charge of homicide.

According to Delcos blog, Burgos faces up to two years in prison on the hit-and-run charges. He will face an unrelated charge of illegal weapon possession. He has an Oct. 23 court hearing in New York on assault and harassment charges after he allegedly threw his girlfriend to the ground.

In the past, the Mets have avoided players who weren’t “wholesome” enough. This troubled player has been a problem since he was acquired from the Royals from Brian Bannister (see my posts
here and here).
