Will He Need His Jacket In Texas

According to the article Ryan preaching new pitching gospel on MLB.com, Rick Peterson, more notoriously know as "The Jacket" is being considered for the position of pitching coach for the Texas Rangers. If he is chosen, Coach Pluto will have to follow Texas club President Nolan Ryan's directive; pitchers must pitch more innings and strengthen their arms.

Ryan is trying to instill old school baseball for his Texas franchise. He doesn't subscribe to the theory that more innings pitched creates more arm problems. All but one of his pitchers had arm injuries last year, and they have allowed the most hits and the second-most walks, while compiling the fewest complete games and the third-fewest strikeouts. Since the beginning of the 2000 season, the Rangers have the worst ERA in the majors.

If hired, can Peterson follow Ryan's directive? Could be an interesting relationship.

he shouldnt even have the interview with the way he failed with Mets pitching
Petersons a has been and his obsession with pitch counts is the antithesis of what Ryan wants to create
