Omar likes his old players. There is a report out that the Mets are looking into trading for White Sox pitcher Javier Vazquez. Not the first time the Mets are linked to Javier. He is owed 23 million over 2 years which I'm sure the Mets would be ok with taking on his salary which is relatively cheap these days. Or they can give up someone in trade so the outlay wont be that much so Omar still has $$ to play with. It might be a bit pricey for a 4th or 5th starter though.
Javier had a 12-16 record and 4.67 ERA with the White Sox last year and had only 1 winning season when he was under Omar in Montreal. He is a workhorse pitching over 200 innings his last 3 seasons. I can see him as a back of the rotation guy at most. Hopefully Omar feels same way.Read the latest on him here
