Rangers Decide To Go Without The Jacket


The Texas Rangers announced the hiring of Mike Maddux as their new pitching coach.


As you have read here and here, Texas had been interested in former Mets pitching coaches Rick Peterson and Dave Wallace .

General Manager Jon Daniels said, "Improving our pitching staff is our top priority for next season. Mike has a proven track record at the major league level. He has both coached a staff that has been in postseason contention each of the last two years, and also helped develop young pitchers."

Maddux had spent the last six season's as pitching coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.
