Mets Interested In Two Japanese Pitchers

The Mets might be interested in Japanese pitchers Koji Uehara and Ken Takahashi. Minaya is looking to sign Uehara as a starter

Uehara is a 33 year old righthanded pitcher who has pitched his entire nine year career with the Yomiuri Giants. He is 6' 1” and weighs 190 lbs. His biggest win total was in 1999 when he went 20-4 with a 2.09 ERA.

Takahasi is a 40 year old left handed pitcher who has spent his 14 year career playing for Hiroshima Toyo Carp. He is 6' 0” and 190 lbs. He appears to be a bit old to make the transition to Major League Baseball, especially if the Mets are trying to get younger.

Minaya has had a history of pulling a rabbit out of his hat, and you can bank on it that Omar will review all data while scouting these two players from Japan.

I would like to see the Mets bring back Oliver Perez at a manageable salary, and sign Derek Lowe. Omar has had a good off season, and the mantra that has been chanted since 2005, “In Omar We Trust” will surely be used for the remainder of this off season.
