It is expected that Dodger CF Andruw Jones will be released sometime this morning. Jones, as you might recall, has re-worked his contract with the Dodgers, deferring much of the money owed him, with the agreement that the Dodgers would either release him, or trade him prior to Spring Training.
It is believed Jones would like to return to Atlanta, where he had his most productive years as a Brave.
Yesterday he was seen at the Duke - Georgia Tech basketball game wearing a Braves hat. A little prophetic?
Just what the Mets need, the Braves to sign/trade for another player, who will probably have a real good rebound year (after a poor 2008), and help to slay the Mets.
The last two years Jones has been awful. The Dodgers can't wait to rid themselves of him, and if the Braves have room for Jones, I can easily see them re-uniting. Jones is only 31, and should have a few good years left. Hopefully, if he does, the good days won't be against the Mets.
