One More Perspective On Lowe

In David O'Brien - Atlanta Journal Constitutional’s article, he cites some reasons why Derek Lowe might actually consider pitching for the Braves.

The Braves have no known official offer to Lowe, but Lowe, Boras, and company met with Braves GM Frank Wren and Manager Bobby Cox.

Some compelling signs that the Braves might have a shot at signing Lowe are:

  • Bobby Cox managed Lowe in an All Star team that toured Japan in 2000.

  • The Braves recently lost one of their icons, John Smoltz, to the Red Sox.

  • The Braves lost out on Jake Peavey when they were gunning hard for him (mostly due to the Padres indecision).

  • The Braves are notorious for lying in wait, then scoop up a quality ball player, all under the radar.

I have always been concerned of the Braves, and believe the Braves are in competition for Lowe’s services.

If the Mets lose out on Lowe, the big question becomes how adversely will this affect their chances of re-signing Oliver Perez?

Omar, my Christmas wish still hasn’t been fulfilled. I have been patient, but my patience is wearing thin…
