Omar On WFAN

This morning on WFAN, Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason had Omar Minaya as a guest. Nothing new was revealed, but Omar said the Mets are set. He said if the Mets can strengthen the bench, he will. He also said that as the season develops, the Mets can strengthen their team at the trade deadline.

Some points of interest:

Luis Castillo: Omar said he has been working out in the Dominican Republic, and should be healthy for the start of the season. He believes that Castillo can still be a productive player, but has to prove he can handle the pressures of NY.

Francisco Rodriguez: Omar believes he will have no problem dealing with the fans and media in NY. Omar said the real test will be after he blows a save, and how he responds to it.

Johan Santana: Omar will not make a decision on the WBC (World Baseball Classic) until he further sees how healthy Santana is after off season knee surgery. If Santana has to speed up his rehab just to pitch in the WBC, Omar would be inclined to have him miss the WBC.

We will look to link the audio of Omar's interview once it becomes available.
