Mets vs Red Sox sold out What is with the fees? Nice way to help out the fans.

If you did not get a chance yesterday to purchase tickets for the 2 games against the Red Sox, Lohud blog is reporting the tickets sold out in roughly 45 minutes.

It was no easy task to getting access to the tickets server through the Mets site. Once you got in though the Mets were right there with there fees. They tell you that tickets will start at $6.00 which is a croc since the charge a $5.00 order fee on top of a per ticket fee.

Check out Mets Police and what he had to say about the fees. I bought 2 tickets in promenade box all the way out in right field. These tickets cost $11.00 a piece but with all the fees I could have paid for another ticket. Do not tell us tickets cost $6.00 because they didn't cost $6.00 .Now if I called in to the sales number which was I'm sure busy for the 30 minutes I never would have gotten tickets. Of course the Mets are offering tickets on line first before they open the box office. That is so they can charge more fees then what it would cost if you stood online in the freezing cold next week.

In this economy where the tickets are priced way out of many familes reach the Mets of course do not seem to get the fact that if they can't reduce the price of tickets at least they could reduce the fees associated with the cost of these tickets.

Do not be fooled when the season starts and they tell you that tickets start at $11.00. Those tickets will be closer to $20.00 .

unless the mets own that online ticket system (evenue.net), I don't think they see the fees at all. they just get your $6. they're all like that. you pay for the conveniences of being able to order online, which is almost like the new standard. you get per ticket charges and per order charges, and with ticketmaster, the charge for print at home. it's way over priced, but it's how those systems make most of their money.

and yes, it sucks. i try to avoid it as much as humanly possible...and i'll go out of my way or miss the event sometimes to avoid the fees.
