Faith and Fear in Flushing a writers journey of being a lifetime Met fan

Being a Met fan I do enjoy reading books that are written by other Met fans to see how there lives are woven around there favorite team. I enjoy reading to see how fans deal with the ups and downs of loving a team that some years drive you absolutely to the point of insanity. That is kind of where the name of this site is derived from. Well to read Greg Prince' Faith and Fear in Flushing An intense personally history of the NY Mets it is good to know there is a lot of company out there.

Gregs book is a great look back on how he became a Met fan ,dealing with parents lack of interest at first and how as a 6yr old he started paying attention to the back pages of the NY newspapers when there were on there way to winning there 1st championship. He also has some good stories about growing up and watching this team trade the icon seaver and then how in the early 80’s watching a kid named Straw. Greg shows us that being a Met fan is not a hobby but a way of life which is sometimes how I feel. I think if you’re a casual fan or a diehard fan you will find passages in his book that you can relate to.

Also loved the Q&A with Gary Cohen which is up to date including how Cohen felt about the last game at Shea. Which honestly to me he was like a kid that day when I saw him on the diamond club level talking about possible plans of playing the Brewers the following day.
