John Franco on the MLB networks MLB Tonight. Interview segment Rocks!

On last nights MLB tonight former Met John Franco was interviewed in one of the segments. This segment on the show gives the viewer sometimes a great taste of what it is or was like to be a major league ball player. Of course you are never to sure what kind of special nugget you might hear for the first time. This is why I find it such a refreshing change from the typical interview with a player.

Last night you heard Franco talk about pitching in NY, the last game at Shea and throwing out the first pitch at the St johns game this past weekend. The typical part. Then you hear about how he was with the Mets on the charter flights he would get on the speaker and tell everyone how they would all be meeting up at a certain steak house. He mentions how he though the team spending time together off the field was important. Franco goes to say he learned that from former Red Tom Hume. When was the last time you heard Tom Hume mentioned ? You got to love it!

John also talks about going out to dinner with AL Leiter and how he would have like 6 espresso shots and the 1 day Franco tried it he was sitting in the bullpen with his heart beating out of his freaking chest!! Love when you hear the human side of these guys. Too many times you are left with the media’s negative portrayal of the player.

Well I look forward to the next time they have someone to interview. Keep it up MLB!
