OK it is only spring training but at least its something to build on. After Oliver Perez pitched a good outing on monday that made Jerry Manuel and Dan Warthen happy John Maine had a pretty good outing against the Marlins on tuesday when the Mets won 9-2
John Maine gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings with 83 pitches where he had 47 strikes. Maine, as per the Daily News was encourage by his outing and felt the only thing he was lacking is "I still think I'm a couple of miles per hour off with my fastball," .
Now that Maine and Perez had decent outings Big Pelf is the only one that has to rebound from a poor performance in his last start. Pelf will pitch thursday in the last game in florida against the Orioles while Johan Santana will have his final tune up today against the Cardinals before his opening day start on Monday.
The Mets spring training record is 15-14
