Right Back Where We Belong
The New York Mets completed their third straight series sweep, and their seventh straight win, propelling them into first place in the NL East by a full game, with Atlanta taking two of three from our buddies from Philadelphia this weekend. This moved the Phillies a full 1 1/2 games behind the Mets.
Jose Reyes seems to be breaking out of his slump going 2-4, with an RBI, and another stolen base. He has raised his average to .278. The most impressive thing is, he actually slid, legs first, into home plate. That is the first time I can ever remember Professor Jose sliding feet first. He didn't need to slide, but he did to be safe, and I was in complete astonishment. It was great to see.
Luis Castillo, Carlos Beltran, and Omir Santos each had 2 RBI, contributing in a big way in the Mets 8-4 victory over the Bucs.
Many players used pink bats and pink arm bands to commemorate Mother's Day, and raise awareness for breast cancer. The bats will be auctioned to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
